Deadman’s Carnival – March 2015
I took the 85mm for a spin at last night’s Deadman’s Carnival event at the Mirimar Theater in Milwaukee. Even managed to get some decent seats.

I was recently fortunate to be able to shoot portraits of an old friend. Matt is someone I grew up with and have known since high school. While many of us at the time played music, he was one of the few to really stick with it, and has been involved in some noteworthy bands. Matt has more bass guitars than you can shake a stick at, including a couple of sweet upright bass’. I asked him to bring them by to let me test out some new light modifiers.
Headshot: Doug G.
I was recently hired to do some professional headshots for use on a company website and other social media. Doug and I had a great conversation while trying different lighting setups and different outfits.

Portrait – The McKenzie Girls
These images were taken as reference photos for a commissioned portrait painting, which was to be gift for their Mom. Initially we weren’t sure if we were going to go with a single painting of both girls, or one painting of each girl, so we took a variety of high and low key shots. You can see the final painting, and read about how it was created here.
Event Photography – Dead Man’s Carnival New Year’s Eve Celebration
This December I was hired to do some event photography for the Dead Man’s Carnival New Year’s Eve celebration that took place at the Hot Water/Wherehouse bar in Milwaukee. This group puts on some of my favorite events to photograph, combining a steampunk/carnival type of atmosphere with games, side shows, music, acrobats, burlesque dancers, and other types of acts from all over the Midwest and other parts of the country. Some of these are truly amazing performers. Quite a way to bring in the new year.
