Panantukan Focus Mitt Drills
These drills require a slightly more coordinated pad holder and a good rapport between the pad holder and striker. These drills were put together by Guro Rick Faye, and approximate the movements used in Panantukan, allowing us to trap and strike safely. Given the ambidextrous nature of Panantukan, it is important to train these combinations out of both leads.
In each of the following combinations, an asterisk * represents a lead switch at that point in the combination by walking forward with the rear leg, which lands on the BH strike. The BH strike is either a hammerfist, a knifehand, or more likely, a forearm and can be used to strike or to lever the opponent’s body to cause them to be off balance, or to move backwards.
